- Use the _cb suffix to align with naming used for callbacks in other

e7778b8584 net: ptp: extract PTP interfaces outside gPTP subsys under NET_L2_PTP
As per #38352, we would like to start building out PTP (IEEE 1588)
support for superset of gPTP functionality in Zephyr. This is the first
step to abstract away some key interfaces from NET_GPTP umbrella to
NET_L2_PTP.

c1f7b9f45a net: l2: ethernet: fix k_work API usage in carrier on/off handling
net_eth_carrier_on() and net_eth_carrier_off() call k_work_init() on
work item that can be pending or still be processed in another thread.
This results in undefined behavior.

Initialize work item once and use an atomic flag to switch between
up/down carrier state. Submit work to workqueue whenever up/down carrier
state changes, so that last state is always properly propagated to
network interface layer.

While at it, save network interface pointer during ethernet context
initialization, so that is becomes static (and thread-safe) during whole
ethernet context lifetime.

f91e9fba51 device: fix potential truncation of DT-derived device names
While using the encoded path to a device tree node guarantees a unique
identifier for the corresponding device there is a limit on the number
of characters of that name that can be captured when looking up a
device by name from user mode, and the path can exceed that limit.

Synthesize a unique name from the node dependency ordinal instead, and
update the gen_defines script to record the name associated with the
full path in the extern declaration.

Add a build-time check that no device is created with a name that
violates the user mode requirement.

Also update the network device DTS helper functions to use the same
inference for dev_name and label that the real one does, since they
bypass the real one.

a8cd162d2c device: Rename config_info attribute to config
There use to be a config attribute of type device_config, on which
config_info could be found. config_info was thus named that way to
differentiate easily from config attribute in struct device.

Now that there is no such device_config structure, config_info in
structure device now, can be renamed to config.

Semantically, it makes for sense. We have an attribute pointing to the
configuration of the device driver instance. Configuration information
is correct but has a redundant meaning.

dcc6eddfef net/ethernet: Centralize where and when header is filled in
Current code generating Ethernet header is scattered all over the place,
sometimes in functions that are supposed to check something (and not
filling the header). Not to say about innefficiency.

Src ll address does not need to be set in L2 as net_if.c handles that
already.

Broadcast dst ll address is the same in ipv4 or ipv6, thus factorizing.
In each case, multicast is filled in only at the relevant place.

This is the first step towards changing L2 sending logic, when L2 send
API function will be the only point of sending. The redirection from
driver to L2 again (which finally uses the right device API function to
send) it a temporary hack.

This simplifies the code but will also enable using statically
allocated net_buf and ethernet header payload buffer afterwards.
