a438b75395 tests: ARC: enable back tests/lib/ringbuffer on qemu_arc_hs6x
tests/lib/ringbuffer is now finally fixed with commit 15e834a687
("linker: __data_region_start equal to __data_start"), so we can enable
it back.

ad6fc38b2f tests: lib: ringbuffer: Fixing tests for various platforms
Stress test that was validating thread safeness was configured to use
higher sys tick rate and targeting qemu_x86 platform. However, it was
also build for other platforms and was failing. Fixing it by extracting
stress tests to separate configuration that is run only on qemu_x86.

Modified the test to fail when number of preemptions is less than
expected only on qemu_x86.

1cccc8a8fe cmake: increase minimal required version to 3.20.0
Move to CMake 3.20.0.

At the Toolchain WG it was decided to move to CMake 3.20.0.

The main reason for increasing CMake version is better toolchain
support.

Better toolchain support is added in the following CMake versions:
- armclang, CMake 3.15
- Intel oneAPI, CMake 3.20
- IAR, CMake 3.15 and 3.20

589c781506 tests: No thread-shared/synchronized data on stack (coherence)
CONFIG_KERNEL_COHERENCE forbids synchronized data on the stack: no
spinlocks, IPC primitives, or things that contain them. Application
code obviously doesn't have to follow these inconvenient rules, but
our test code needs to run on platforms with incoherent stack memory.

Make these things static.

1e46bb3bb5 lib: os: ring_buffer: Allow using full buffer capacity
Previously, ring buffer had capacity of provided buffer size - 1. This
trick was used to distinguish between empty and full states. It had one
drawback: ring buffer could not be used as a pool of equal sized buffers
(using ring_buf_put_claim and ring_buf_get_claim).
Reworked internals to use non wrapping head and tail. Since they are
non wrapping, there is no issue with distinguishing between empty and
full. Since this appraoch would be vulnerable to wrapping on 32 bit
boundary, added a mechanism which periodically reduces all indexes to
avoid 32 bit wrapping.

After this rework, buffer has one byte more capacity. Simple test shows
slight performance improvement.

Updated tests to reflect increased capacity and added test to check if
it is possible to continuesly allocated 2 buffers of half ring buffer
size.

407b49b35c cmake: use find_package to locate Zephyr
Using find_package to locate Zephyr.

Old behavior was to use $ENV{ZEPHYR_BASE} for inclusion of boiler plate
code.

Whenever an automatic run of CMake happend by the build system / IDE
then it was required that ZEPHYR_BASE was defined.
Using ZEPHYR_BASE only to locate the Zephyr package allows CMake to
cache the base variable and thus allowing subsequent invocation even
if ZEPHYR_BASE is not set in the environment.

It also removes the risk of strange build results if a user switchs
between different Zephyr based project folders and forgetting to reset
ZEPHYR_BASE before running ninja / make.

6311766d9a pointer-type args: cast appropriately to be 64-bit compatible
Using void pointers as universal arguments is widely used. However, when
compiling a 64-bit target, the compiler doesn't like when an int is
converted to a pointer and vice versa despite the presence of a cast.
This is due to a width mismatch between ints (32 bits) and pointers
(64 bits). The trick is to cast to a widening integer type such as
intptr_t and then cast to
void*.

When appropriate, the INT_TO_POINTER macro is used instead of this
double cast to make things clearer. The converse with POINTER_TO_INT
is also done which also serves as good code annotations.

While at it, remove unneeded casts to specific pointer types from void*
in the vicinity, and move to typed variable upon function entry to make
the code cleaner.

9926f947ab tests: ringbuffer: avoid unaligned mem access
Casting the rb_data character array to a u32_t can result
in an unaligned u32_t * pointer being passed to
ring_buf_item_put(), since rb_data is only byte-aligned.

Our Altera Max10 CPU build is not configured to detect
unaligned memory access and throw an exception, it is
instead rounding down the memory address
of the data pointer to the nearest 4-byte value, causing
the wrong data to be copied into the ring buffer.

It appears that in the C standard this is considered
Undefined Behavior so the approach this patch takes is
to fix the test, by ensuring that rb_data is aligned to
u32_t.

7eabab2f5d samples, tests: Use semi-accurate project names
When using an IDE (e.g. Eclipse, Qt Creator), the project name gets
displayed. This greatly simplifies the navigation between projects when
having many of them open at the same time. Naming every project "NONE"
defeats this functionality.

This patch tries to use sensible project names while not duplicating
too much of what is already represented in the path. This is done by
using the name of the directory the relevant CMakeLists.txt file is
stored in. To ensure unique project names in the samples (and again, in
the tests folder) folder, small manual adjustments have been done.

55ee53ce91 cmake: Prepend 'cmake_minimum_required()' into 'app' build scripts
Prepend the text 'cmake_minimum_required(VERSION 3.8.2)' into the
application and test build scripts.

Modern versions of CMake will spam users with a deprecation warning
when the toplevel CMakeLists.txt does not specify a CMake
version. This is documented in bug #8355.

To resolve this we include a cmake_minimum_required() line into the
toplevel build scripts. Additionally, cmake_minimum_required is
invoked from within boilerplate.cmake. The highest version will be
enforced.

This patch allows us to afterwards change CMake policy CMP000 from OLD
to NEW which in turn finally rids us of the verbose warning.

The extra boilerplate is considered more acceptable than the verbosity
of the CMP0000 policy.
