1ee4d3ed77 net: l2: ieee802154: document L1/L2 sep. of concerns
The method ieee802154_radio_handle_ack() does not belong to the
PHY/radio layer but to the L2 layer. It is a callback called from the
radio layer into the L2 layer and to be implemented by all L2 stacks.
This is the same pattern as is used for ieee802154_init(). The
'_radio_' infix in this function is therefore confusing and
conceptually wrong.

This change fixes the naming inconsistency and extensively documents
its rationale.

It is assumed that the change can be made without prior deprecation of the
existing method as in the rare cases where users have implemented custom
radio drivers these will break in obvious ways and can easily be fixed.

Nevertheless such a rename would not be justified on its own if it were
not for an important conceptual reason:

The renamed function represents a generic "inversion-of-control" pattern
which will become important in the TSCH context: It allows for clean
separation of concerns between the PHY/radio driver layer and the
MAC/L2 layer even in situations where the radio driver needs to be
involved for performance or deterministic timing reasons. This
"inversion-of-control" pattern can be applied to negotiate timing
sensitive reception and transmission windows, it let's the L2 layer
deterministically timestamp information elements just-in-time with
internal radio timer counter values, etc.

93b63df762 samples, tests: convert string-based twister lists to YAML lists
Twister now supports using YAML lists for all fields that were written
as space-separated lists. Used twister_to_list.py script. Some artifacts
on string length are due to how ruamel dumps content.

0b90fd5adf samples, tests, boards: Switch main return type from void to int
As both C and C++ standards require applications running under an OS to
return 'int', adapt that for Zephyr to align with those standard. This also
eliminates errors when building with clang when not using -ffreestanding,
and reduces the need for compiler flags to silence warnings for both clang
and gcc.

Most of these changes were automated using coccinelle with the following
script:

11c7371f99 samples: Explicitly disable boot USB device support init at boot
Disables having USB enabled for boards that configure USB CDC for
console, shell or logging at bootup in applications that enable USB
to prevent a conflict arising whereby USB is registered from
multiple points and later calls fail.

1c4011ff6e usb: remove usb_pid.Kconfig file
Remove Kconfig file samples/subsys/usb/usb_pid.Kconfig added in
the commit e5cbe6a9e7 ("usb: cdc: Add unique PIDs for each sample")
with the motivation to have a separate ID for each sample supposedly
to be recognizable by the host.

The new USB support does not use the options, VID/PID is set
directly in the application. As a note, it is not necessary to have
unique PID for each sample, especially for the well known USB classes.

Replace the individual Kconfig options in the documentation
by a table with the references to the samples and PIDs.

741972cf56 samples: net: wpan(usb|serial): exclude thingy53_nrf5340_cpuapp_ns
This commit excludes thingy53_nrf5340_cpuapp_ns platform from building
wpanusb and wpan_serial samples. The platform doesn't support TF-M yet
and therefore the build is bound to fail.

Due to limitations of the filter functionality, a more generic approach
where _ns platforms without TF-M support would be excluded from the
build, for example:

filter: dt_chosen_enabled("zephyr,ieee802154") and
	CONFIG_NRF_SOC_SECURE_SUPPORTED

doesn't properly filter out the needed platforms. As a result,
platform_exclude syntax is used to specifically exclude the platform.

The WPAN-USB sample did not document endianness of some user space
variables. As the IEEE 802.15.4 stack uses attributes in several
different encodings, the endianness should be documented.

705a8b6ea1 net: ieee802154: introduce consistent MTU definition
Zephyr IEEE 802.15.4 drivers and L2 stack use the same constant names
for different MTU definitions. The intent of this change is to introduce
a consistent MTU definition which can be used everywhere in zephyr to
avoid confusion, bugs and name conflict.

cf8d7764da usb: fix bulk endpoint configuration for high-speed capable device
In the current USB device support, the sizes of bulk endpoint
are mostly configure through Kconfig and do not care if a device
is high-speed capable. The information if a USB device controller
supports high-speed comes from devicetree. Add a Kconfig option to
map this information and configure bulk endpoint sizes
accordingly.

67151b930a drivers: ieee802154: remove ieee802154_radio_handle_ack() stub
When using the IEEE802154 radio interface in CONFIG_IEEE802154_RAW_MODE,
there is no way to handle ack frames because of the dummy implementation
of ieee802154_radio_handle_ack() in the ieee802154_radio header file.
Removed the dummy implementation from the header so you can/need to
implement it in the application.

samples: added implementation of ieee802154_radio_handle_ack() to
         wpan_serial and wpanusb sample

1cccc8a8fe cmake: increase minimal required version to 3.20.0
Move to CMake 3.20.0.

At the Toolchain WG it was decided to move to CMake 3.20.0.

The main reason for increasing CMake version is better toolchain
support.

Better toolchain support is added in the following CMake versions:
- armclang, CMake 3.15
- Intel oneAPI, CMake 3.20
- IAR, CMake 3.15 and 3.20

Now that device_api attribute is unmodified at runtime, as well as all

1fb418df4c net: ieee802154_radio: Allow to specify TX mode
Even though radio driver can report in its capabilities that it does
support CSMA CA, there's no way in the driver to select how the frame
should be transmitted (with CSMA or without). As layers above radio
driver (Thread, Zigbee) can expect that both TX modes are available, we
need to extend the API to allow either of these modes.

This commits extends the API `tx` function with an extra parameter,
`ieee802154_tx_mode`, which informs the driver how the packet should be
transmitted. Currently, the following modes are specified:
* direct (regular tx, no cca, just how it worked so far),
* CCA before transmission,
* CSMA CA before transmission,
* delayed TX,
* delayed TX with CCA

Assume that radios that reported CSMA CA capability transmit in CSMA CA
mode by default, all others will support direct mode.

407b49b35c cmake: use find_package to locate Zephyr
Using find_package to locate Zephyr.

Old behavior was to use $ENV{ZEPHYR_BASE} for inclusion of boiler plate
code.

Whenever an automatic run of CMake happend by the build system / IDE
then it was required that ZEPHYR_BASE was defined.
Using ZEPHYR_BASE only to locate the Zephyr package allows CMake to
cache the base variable and thus allowing subsequent invocation even
if ZEPHYR_BASE is not set in the environment.

It also removes the risk of strange build results if a user switchs
between different Zephyr based project folders and forgetting to reset
ZEPHYR_BASE before running ninja / make.

is renamed to nrf52840dk_nrf52840.
Its documentation and all references to its name in the tree are
updated accordingly. Overlay and configuration files specific to
this board are also renamed, to match the new board name.

4d5ee282be samples: net: Convert mcr20a samples to use the frdm_cr20a shield
Converts all net samples that enable the mcr20a 802.15.4 driver to use
the frdm_cr20a shield instead of hardcoding configs for the frdm_k64f
base board. This makes it possible to build mcr20a samples for other
base boards with compatible arduino headers.

abaeaed2af usb: sort usb config data by section
USBD_CFG_DATA_DEFINE macro has not consider that a class
could have more than one set of usb_cfg_data struct.
If a class has more than one set of usb_cfg_data
then they should be sorted the same way like by
USBD_DEVICE_DESCR_DEFINE macro.

819e749ccd usb: move the request handler buffer to the USB device code
In order to unify the legacy and composite code, move the class and
vendor request handler buffer into the USB device code, just like in
composite mode. The option is renamed from USB_COMPOSITE_BUFFER_SIZE
into USB_REQUEST_BUFFER_SIZE and also replaces the USB_DFU_MAX_XFER_SIZE
and USB_HID_MAX_PAYLOAD_SIZE options.

3ae52624ff license: cleanup: add SPDX Apache-2.0 license identifier
Update the files which contain no license information with the
'Apache-2.0' SPDX license identifier.  Many source files in the tree are
missing licensing information, which makes it harder for compliance
tools to determine the correct license.

By default all files without license information are under the default
license of Zephyr, which is Apache version 2.
