Use the RTIO work queue to fake the i2c submit calls for drivers which
haven't yet implemented the API. Applications can change the size of
the work queue pool depending on how much traffic they have on the buses.

This config should be selected by any driver that supports the RTIO
interface and can then be checked on by things like tests or drivers
that subsequently require the feature exist.

Implementing RTIO drivers, in theory, should be as simple as the normal
i2c drivers and generally be more consistent across implementations. To
do that some common code that calls driver specific code is needed much
like the venerable spi_context and its helpers.
This adds struct i2c_rtio as well as helpers to perform blocking i2c
transfers, i2c bus recovery, and similar such tasks.

Rather than a depends on, which leaves it up to every single usage
of I2C_RTIO to then go and select RTIO, by selecting I2C_RTIO Kconfig
inherently selects RTIO now.

RAM allows for very fast reads and writes and lets us explore most of
the I2C controller APIs including RTIO. Theoretically supports any form
of i2c connected RAM but requires some tweaking to work with specific
parts potentially. Tested with Fujitsu's MB85 FeRAM part using an
arduino breakout.

With the device_sync_sem semaphore, there is the possibility of
the code not returning to give it back
(mcux_flexcomm_master_transfer_callback is never called),
causing it to get stuck in k_sem_take(&data->device_sync_sem, K_FOREVER)
in subsequent calls.
The i2c driver recovers by other means
(enabling FSL_FEATURE_I2C_TIMEOUT_RECOVERY)
but the callback might not return.
Adding a timeout option allows for this occurrence to be avoided.

Do not enable subsystem/driver shell modules by default and stop abusing
CONFIG_SHELL_MINIMAL, which is internal to the shell subsystem, to decide
when to enable a driver shell.
The list of shell modules has grown considerably through the
years. Enabling CONFIG_SHELL for doing e.g. an interactive debug session
leads to a large number of shell modules also being enabled unless
explicitly disabled, which again leads to non-negligible increases in
RAM/ROM usage.
This commit attempts to establish a policy of subsystem/driver shell
modules being disabled by default, requiring the user/application to
explicitly enable only those needed.

This commit adds option to dump i2c messages of only specified
devices. It makes it easier to debug communication of specific
i2c device instead of logging all i2c communication.
The filter of devices is specifiec in device-tree using the
node with "zephyr,i2c-dump-filter" compatible string.
Example of device-tree node:

This commit changes the parameter of i2c_dump_msgs function from
string name to pointer to the device structure.
It allows for comparison of device pointers and allow to use

Add a driver to support the Xilinx AXI IIC Bus Interface logic core, as
described in Xilinx document PG090. This can be configured for use on
most Xilinx FPGA-based platforms such as the Digilent Arty.
Both the 2.00a and 2.1 versions of the core are supported. The 2.00a
revision has a bug causing dynamic read mode to not be reliable. With
this version of the core the driver falls back to reading only 1 byte
per interrupt.

Unify the drivers/*/Kconfig menuconfig title strings to the format
"<class> [(acronym)] [bus] drivers".
Including both the full name of the driver class and an acronym makes
menuconfig more user friendly as some of the acronyms are less well-known
than others. It also improves Kconfig search, both via menuconfig and via
the generated Kconfig documentation.

When turned on, the existing i2c dump code is use to log every I2C
transaction at debug level.
This can be very useful for detecting problems with I2C peripherals.

i2c_transfer_async is the asynchronous version of i2c_transfer where
the completion of the transfer is notified to the caller using a callback.
This can be used in conjuction with the common callbacks and datatypes
in async.h for directly doing an async transfer with an IPC object
to notify a thread.

Update i2c drivers to use DT_HAS_<compat>_ENABLED Kconfig symbol
to expose the driver and enable it by default based on devicetree.
We remove 'depend on' Kconfig for symbols that would be implied by
the devicetree node existing.

Add I2C bus recovery support to the NXP MCUX LPI2C driver. Since the LPI2C
peripheral block does not natively support I2C bus recovery, recovery is
performed using GPIO bitbanging.

Refactors the remaining I2C drivers to use the shared driver class
initialization priority configuration, CONFIG_I2C_INIT_PRIORITY, to
allow configuring I2C drivers separately from other devices. This is
similar to other driver classes.
The default is set to CONFIG_KERNEL_INIT_PRIORITY_DEVICE to preserve the
existing default initialization priority for most drivers.

Add an interrupt driven i2c driver for gd32 i2c peripheral.
The transmit and reception method refer from GD32 SoCs user manual.
Particularly, reception method choose the solution B.
There have some wait for state ready logic in the driver. It cause by
i2c device internal state change slower than i2c driver.

Keep ti,tca9546a and ti,tca9546a-channel compatible
for backward compatibility reasons.
New tca954x-base binding embedding common properties,
tca9546a binding inherits from it and define its own compatibles fields.

Adds the ability for I2C drivers to report synchronous transfer stats
using a I2C specific macro to define the device instance.
The macro creates a container for device_state which allows for per
instance device class common data structure to be used in the device
class api (ex: i2c.h). This is used to maintain per driver instance
stats for all i2c drivers. This is a reusable idea across other device
classes as desired.
Using Kconfig device class stats may be turned on/off individually
this way as well, in this case I2C_STATS.

This patch add support for I2C on the Renesas R-Car.
This I2C hardware block can be found on various Renesas R-Car
SoC series.
It allows to perfom read and write on I2C buses in an
interrupt based way on R-Car Gen3 H3ULCB board.

The NPCX SMB modules provides full support for a two-wire SMBus/I2C
synchronous serial interface. Each SMBus/I2C interface is a two-wire
serial interface that is compatible with both Intel SMBus and Philips
I2C physical layer. There are 8 SMBus modules and 10 buses in NPCX7
series.
In NPCX7 series, the SMB5 and SMB6 modules contain a two-way switch to
support two separate SMBus/I2C buses (ports) with one SMB module
(controller) Please refer Section 4.7.2 in the datasheet. In order to
support it, this CL seperates the i2c driver into port and controller
drivers. The controller driver is in charge of i2c module operations
and internal state machine. The port driver is in charge of pin-mux
and connection between Zehpyr i2c api interface and controller driver.
All of modules have separate 32-byte transmit FIFO and 32-byte receive
FIFO buffers. These FIFO buffers reduce firmware overhead during long
SMBus transactions by allowing the Core to write or read more than one
data byte at a time to/from the SMB module.
The CL also includes:
— Add npcx i2c port/controller device tree declarations.
— Zephyr i2c api implementation.
— Add "i2c-0" aliases in npcx7m6fb.dts for i2c test suites.
